I just passed my PPL checkride last weekend. Took me 4 months start to finish. Did it for fun and to pad my resume once I finish my A&P program.

Posted this in another thread but haven't gotten any replies yet
I'm starting up flight school in a week, it's a nice school that lets you move at your own pace and has a fleet of nice new 172s
Gonna be going 5 days a week, and I wanna go all the way through the commercial license and multi-engine, what am I in for? Any preliminary reading I should do as someone with virtually no aviation experience? I've been going through a study book for the private pilot's license test but is there any other books or websites I should look into to establish some base knowledge?

Recreational flying is a wasteful folly for rich tories with nothing better to do. If you're not planning to become a professional pilot then getting a pilot's licence is a stupid and careless way to piss away your savings.

To get a gliding license you need to be at least 16 years old. Jack may have had his first solo at 14, but I know plenty of others who soloed at 14, so it's not at all unique and Jack isn't 'licensed' at all because he still has to fly under instructor supervision until he turns 16 and can get his license

I should've had it by now but covid shut my program down at the beginning of April. They were saying they'd come back for fall for a long time so I waited around but I found out a few weeks ago that's not happening so I switched to another school. The end result is that I only have six hours though.

I'm broke and could never afford to fly even if medical conditions didn't stop me
I alternate between being very resentful of pilots for their financial and genetic good fortune, and not really caring either way because I'm used to the fact that flying will always be a fantasy and that pilots are as far removed from me as astronauts.
