I read an article on these, maybe 15 years ago, they were designed for the United States military. They could handle a 5 foot drop to flat, with a war loaded personelle on them, and fold away to be carried on their backpack.

Lol nope, they were designed for motorhome boomers, army thing is just a marketing stunt that to this day fools people. They are like your uncle who tells everyone he's a marine but never actually served.
But yeah, they are very stiff and sturdy. Not really backpackable, but definitely trunkable.

I can't identify all the parts on this but it looks like it has an IGH, 2 or 3 speed derailleur, and crank gearbox.

what happened to that worst bike build anon? I vaguely remember it had s-works stickers, aerobars on a bmx frame or something else ridiculous. utterly useless but I remember enjoying those threads. there were buildd pics but I missed the final setup. also missed the video of it being driven.
