What transport is best in my situation

How do you even imagine the answer to this question could be 'no'?

Also, shoes will work.

An ordinary leg powered bicycle is also likely to work, depending on how hilly "very hilly" actually is.

Well, a 30 minute walk is an 8 minute bike ride. If you save 22 minutes twice a day and work 225 days a year, you would save 1,000 hours over 6 years, which is a low estimate for long you'd be using an e-bike before replacing it, and if it costs 1,000 bucks for a reasonably value oriented model you'd pay around one buck per hour of your time saved. The only downside is an e-bike locked up at the station would be gone within a week, so you'd need to get a folding one that you can take on the train and to the office with you, and those are a bit of a pain to lug around as they weigh 20 kilos. So hopefully your office isn't on the fifth floor with no elevator.

Did you just get a DUI or something? There's zero chance you'd be paying over 1k, prius is piss cheap on insurance. Most likely 60/month

I live in leafland, specifically in BC where the government has a monopoly on car insurance. That price is typical for new drivers in their 20's, although I did forget to convert it to USD, so like $3000 usd a year.

I probably will buy one eventually, but as a university student working a part time job, I would like to hold off until I graduate and get a full time job. I could easily afford the capital cost, but I don't want to just sit around and watch the gas and insurance money slowely burn through my savings.
