>>1542784Actually, yes, I would say that IS fiscal responsinbility. Not subsidising unprofitable endeavours is fiscal responsibility. It may or may not be moral responsibility, but that's a different question.
Tangentially, I happened to read yesterday about Hirta, an island in the remote Scottish St. Kilda archipelago, that had been populated since prehistoric times but was evacuated in 1930 because life there had become untenable. Subsidising a support line to the island to maintain the population just for the sake of it would have been fiscally irresponsible.
(Then they apparently did that anyway later by installing a military installation there.)
