I've sailed on both ferries that travel the the Newcastle-Ijmuiden overnight route (and toured the vessel + said 'hi' to the bridge staff, which was a treat), I'd really recommend them once this corona business finally blows over. King Seaways is the larger of the two, but Princess Seaways is my favourite.

That's the point. In quite a few senses, they can be more competitive than sleeper trains.

Not only cars, also trucks (and sometimes bus)
