>>1546413If you've never used a road bike consistently, buy a used bike for like $500, $700, and even that I consider expensive. If you're just starting out you should focus on your cadence, your stroke, hold you hold your back, arms, neck, and chest, and learning to feel out how you like your saddle to be positioned. Without the right attention to these aspects of cycling, you'll be fighting your technique and blaming the bike and I've seen it happen- its really natural. Theres a lot of nuance to not hurting yourself with such repetitious strain on your knees and elbows, and learning where and how to hold your body is crucial to making it a sustainable part of your life. I really love biking, learning to get better at it by listening to my body has been the most rewarding part, and you can do that on nearly any bike. I'd say- get a bike you can afford to crash at least twice, because it's bound to happen. Get a bike you can afford to maintain. Hope you have a fucking blast on whatever you choose. My 2¢ :+)
