Can't fly in anything but the calmest weather.
Regularly kill/injure their pilots.
High strung engines pared down for weight reasons are also unreliable as hell.
Regulations prevent you from having ADS-B transponders making you roadkill (skykill?) for other planes.
They're like motorcycles for the skies.

most places require some kind of pilot licence and in some places you can only take of from licensed landing strips

america is just fucking based with no regulations on them, would use them to commute only reason to move there
but I think they would be ideal for in remote sparsly populated places like central asia

That is the beauty of editing; you can make it look like a convenient and spontaneous trip. In reality, a lot of thought has to be given to the weather, landing zones, air traffic, and so on.
