rj the bike guy is really good
he's a pro but he also struggles a bit fixing various things like we do, it's not just polished fantasy wrenching
and he's got a good ethos about fixing old stuff.

Both of those guys are annoying as hell and only so-so mechanics, but so-so is better than clueless home mechanic and it's true they do deal with OTS crap.

Park is actually decent for getting by the book instruction on newer parts, but lacking in diagnosis. They're basically just walkthroughs about how to use the tools, not figure out what's wrong.

I just mean they aren't really good "guru" level mechanics. They're experienced shop mechanics, but that's not a high bar when the typical shop mechanic can barely follow Park Tool instructions and it's not actually a real trade. Their diagnoses and solutions are sometimes wonky, but it's still above the average mechanic that can again, barely follow Park Tool instructions. This is an industry where people who can read the not very complicated instructions for Campagnolo parts put "Campagnolo spoken here" signs.
