I'm sure there are other ways to achieve minimal carbon footprint flight, but "can fly with waste vegetable oil" just doesn't have quite as nice a ring to it as "first global circumnavigation on solar power".

It looks like they had a few different ones. Some of them are a bit longer and more slender, and I think there were some yellow and black ones too. Always liked the GeeBee but I think it was extremely unstable and hard to fly due to its unconventional geometry. Maneuverable, but unpredictable. A cool plane, wish I could see one in person.

I knew they made a civilian version but idk if the manufacturer would even give a private owner looking to buy just one the time of day (since 99% of them are sold to governments/militaries). There's one at my local airport, never seen it fly but apparently the owner still takes it out a few times a year. It's also one of very few jets on the field (maybe the only one based there?) and I'm always kind of surprised our 4,100' runway is enough for it.
