>>1559642>do you guys like pro cycling? No, all the coolest bikes are verboten by UCI rules now because no fun is allowed and Mercx was a baby about someone beating his record. Pro MTB is kinda cool but the 90s videos of people doing stupid jumps and wall riding and extreme downhill and other crap on hardtails and early full sus bikes is way more interesting.
>>1559642>anyone owns a pro bike?No because they're assumed to have the support of a team car and be replaced at least bi-yearly, sometimes more frequently. And stupidly expensive. Some 10-35 year old CF and alluminum frames are beautiful but just wall hangers due to the risk of the resin having degraded or the aluminum having been fatigued from enough riding over the decades. Not just for safety, but for destroying a work of art that can't be replaced.
Even pro MTBs are kinda suspect from being ridden even harder, and the same things apply. Like if you own a Tioga Disk Drive, don't fucking ride it because it will fall apart. A lot of the old CNC-era parts were also notoriously weak vs forged components according to geezers as well.
