I agree with this man. derailers and chains are retarded. Hub gears and belts are way better. Fuck maintaining a "simple" machine. I thought bikes would be a simple hobbies that didnt involve that much maintenance.

Gearhubs have their niche. I'm very impressed with my Alfine 8, of all the parts of my bike it's the hardest working and has never given me a bit of trouble. If it ever did I'd be fucked, but that's acceptable for my use case.

Nah derailers and chain set ups are retarded. Derailers are the most efficient drive train at around %98. Hub gears are %90. Wow %8 difference at the cost of having your derailer bend or go out alignment when ever you put your bike in the car, in storage or when you crash(which should happen all the time if you like pushing yourself to the limit aka fun). Bikes are simple machines yet have a retarded amount of maintenance.

Ya riding fast and hitting jumps will always be the reason why I ride. Im not good at either btw. Pushing myself is fun, but constant maintenance is gay. the bike industry is more interested in selling repairs and shitty bikes than having fun. Big turn off.

How small is that?
After all mtbers gradually went from ~48 to ~32 and in gravel things are going towards 42ish or even 36 with the upcoming groupsets and their teeny-tiny cogs.
Roadies are probably going to be running 53x9 top gears soon lol, but there's really not much to do with gearing way over 100", especially if you ride solo.
