its a bit awkward but you would have to use one hand for braking and the other for shifting

soft seats allow your body to sink too far down into them putting more weight onto the bifkin / Scrotal septum (unless a cutout is provided)
important to note is that the more upright you are the further apart your sit bones are, this also widens the closure angles of the knees and thighs
so that seats made for a more upright seating position (such as with hands on a flat bar or the bar tops)
will be too wide when leaning further forward (ie ,pursuit bars ,hoods ,or riding in the drops)
so the inside edge of your thigh .eg Adductor muscles and tendons will dig into the soft foam of the seat and wear it out
