All freight should be turned into a single company. Owned 60/40 by a trust representing the craft unions and the federal government. Run as a co op by the crafts. With 2 mandates. To be self sustaining, and give amtrak priority anywhere.

Nah. I'd rather it be fully owned by the federal govt and managed by a federal industrial holdings board, with the board members elected by the public.

Electrd board members can still be bought off. Kill an industry spur or passenger service. Get job with airline or trucking.

Labor needs a controlling interest with a huge voting base for decisions. So they're protected.
