For brass nipples; maybe, for alloy; definitely not. A gap between the end of the spoke and the nipple's contact with the eyelet of the rim creates a pressure riser and will make short work of alloy nipples. I don't know why anyone would use alloy nipples in anything but the most autistic hill climb wheelsets, brass is just so much better and the difference in weight is as much as a few sips of water.
