Same with doors. If you have a doorknob, or accessible handle, which one can you open with your foot while you hold things in both of your hands? The accessible door handle.

But often, stairs are the faster way for fit people to get somewhere. The ramp has niche uses like furniture moving and wheelchair usage, even if it still has good uses for people with good legs.

but stairs do have to be well built otherwise they are somewhat of a hazard
a short enough total run forces stairs to be no better than a ramp of the same pitch angle
and ladders are not certified for some spaces
so the only thing left over is a lift

In the ambulance service there are many problems with moving patients though doorways and hallways + up and down stairs
at most there are only two officers per ambulance, so for patients that are a four or six (sometimes eight) man lift we have to wait for the fire department to help

the worst part is the health system has a massive backlog that delays essential medical intervention for so long that people deteriorate beyond repair
and that the hospital pharmacy and ambulance all maintain separate databases to keep a track of what medicine people are taking
so its a pita to find out what pills people are taking to avoid over prescription and contraindications

na I hold doors for people if they are near by

Idk about the US but most health care here is in part publicly funded, hence the massive backlog, and occasional union strikes
