>>1579225>hub can be made lighterHubs need to be strong rather than light, due to their function and how far from moment of inertia they are
>Forks more compliantThey only need to be compliant enough to not break, tyres should be your main source of compliance and pneumatic tyres were invented for that reason.
>rim crushVery real issue and cause of carbon rim failure, particularly for heavy or rough riders. Tubular rims are infinitely better in this aspect, and are lighter by default so make for a better wheel.
>true running is no longer importantIt's never not important, especially if you have a twitchy fork or poor cockpit geometry/setup
>vulnerable to over heating and glazingThe resin pads are, but they're garbage and no one has any business buying anything other than metallic pads and rotors unless they're cat7 riders.
>the fluid can boilBoth DOT and mineral oil have very high boiling points provided there's no water in the system, but oil has the disadvantage of floating on the water so boiling will be worse in a neglected oil brake system. Good quality pads and rotors have lots of fins and heatsinks these days so the tech is getting pretty good now.
>disk brakes can pull quick release axlesNo sensible bike maker mixes these two things anymore, I know people with QR disc brakes and they're generally garbage.
Discs are based, if you look after them
