>>1586383>Dude your knee is way forward of the pedal spindle in that pic.Ah, you're right. I didn't check the picture, I was previously performing the test using a string and a weight, I guess I did it poorly. Thanks!
>>1586476Anon, I've lowered the saddle before, no need to be so upset. Every time I do a rocky descent I drop the saddle, and when I put it back up, it's never at the exact same height, I often have it lower than this. I'm sure the saddle height isn't perfect right now, I'm more interested in the saddle setback.
You also seem to have some idea that I am experiencing discomfort on the bike, or that I am unhappy with the fit. The only reason I posted my fit was to sate the curiosity of anons who thought my bike was too big. I'm aware that bringing the saddle forward will put more weight on my hands... but I don't experience hand discomfort, I'm able to ride with my hands behind me when pedaling hard(steve hogg's test). And I've ridden many friends' rigid mountain bikes, from 16"- 21", and I didn't experience anything astonishingly better. So, when I asked "What about the ride should improve by taking your suggestions", I am not trying to address any specific discomfort, I am wondering concretely how my ride would be improved. You mention "relief", "fit issues", and "efficient and comfortable"(
>>1586476), but I feel no discomfort, and I've made abundantly clear that I feel more powerful with the saddle forward.
My initial and current understanding is that you can pretty much move the saddle as far forward as you find comfortable. You also mention a compromise between an over-the-BB position and comfort/stability(
>>1586226), so I assume you agree with this. And I'm comfortable. Does that make sense?
