i feel like i’m going to die an early death if i don’t change my ways
i’m looking for an electric bike that has pedals so i can bike around as long as i can and then when i’m about to have a heart attack from all the bk double cheeseburgers coast my fatass home on electric
can anyone recommend me a bike that won’t make me go broke as well. i understand they get expensive but $1k is about my limit
help a fatass out please

Oh well that's no brainer then! There are a LOT of gadgets you can buy for your bike. There are bike computers galore, multiple kinds of derailleurs and cranks, all sorts of brakes and wheels and rims. There's even multiple kinds of little wheel generators to power all of your electronic goodies. Once you know what you're doing, you can build a bike exactly how you want it starting with just a frame. If buying and playing with gadgets is how you make your brain happy, there's no limit to what you can do with bicycles.

Go into the /bbg/ and post your local craigslist and your inseam, and mention what you're trying to do (get into shape and want a bike to help you start on that path) and they'll find you exactly what you need.

Just a word of encouragement and advice, though: resist the temptation to push yourself to your limits right at the start. Your knees aren't used to the activity right now. If you push too hard, you'll wear yourself out and you won't want to get back on the bike no matter how much you know you need to. I'm speaking from experience here as a fellow fatass Starting out, keep it light so your body gets used to the new range of motion...but do it every single day Eventually you'll be used to biking, and you can start to push your endurance. Keep your eyes on the prize anon, we're all going to make it.

I think an e-bike is not a bad idea but $1000 probably isn't enough to get one worth it.

You'll have a lot more fun on a -good- regular bike than a shit tier e-bike that just breaks.
the most basic tell for a good new bike is being 8/9/10/11 spd not 7. new 7 speed bikes basically all suck.

Pic related for $800 is probably peak value casual bike and where diminishing returns kicks in for quality on the spec.

Or, i don't know what availability is like to you, but make sure your e-bike has 8/9 speed. And realise you will have to spend money upgrading/repairing it. I'm not going to trawl and find you that bike.

The other, probably best idea, if you live in a good used market, would be to buy a used bike. You could get something very good for maybe substantially less money. Post your craigslist if you want recs.

Also remember. Certain bikes, like those surlys, can be converted down the line.

think about how much you'd enjoy cycling with 40kg dead weight strapped on you.
An e-bike can equalize that.
And if the main thing is (it is) simply eating less then going out and feeling the breeze on your face and having fun fanging around is probably going to just make fatboi happier and therefor less susceptible to stuff his face to deal with the crippling pain of existence.

Go to kevventral on YouTube and pick out a cheap ass bike that he approves of.
Then get a home set-up for Zwift or some other riding app/game.
Ride it in your living room, ride irl on weekends.
You will not lose weight on your bike alone unless you are putting in miles on weekdays

Infact no one needs to do intensive exercise to be healthy. You 'train' indoors to participate in a sport. It's not even healthy. If you really get gud then you're actually MORE succeptable to heart failure/disease than someone who just cruises around a park for an hour or so a few times a week maybe swims a bit. It's not 'healthy' to be an athlete. Friel talks about this in his book on training.

learn basic mechanics etc., its pretty esential, like flat change etc., rest of your budget should go on a floor pump and tools, possibly some upgrades like solid flat pedals...and you are left with 500/1000usd.
