Head out to some of the extremities of the bus network - you can get some way out of London in many cases. You can get the 465 to Dorking (or Box Hill which can be climbed), or the 405 to Redhill. I'd also recommend doing the R5/R10 which are two of the most rural bus routes in "London" (really it's deepest Kent), the R8 is another option which goes past Nigel Farage's house. Also, have a go on the trams if you've never been, they're pretty slick.
