>>1588309* 1 1/8 head tube too stiff for pavement bikes
* disc brakes on pavement bikes requires overbuilt forks which are too stiff
* hydraulic disc on pavement bikes gives minimal improvement in lever feel for laundry list of drawbacks
* tubeless on pavement bikes - needless hassle
all of the above were taken from mountain bikes and put on road bikes to increase sales
* carbon fiber - too delicate and dangerous for typical rider, now found on mid tier bikes, too expensive
* outboard bottom bracket bearings - square taper was great, remains great. only pushed to sell expensive standardized shit at higher profit
* press fit bottom brackets - cheaper to manufacture frames, squeaks on your 3k carbon bike
* thru axle on pavement bikes - even more stiffness from mtb tech to compensate for the fucking disc brakes
* internal cable routing - fucking joke
* aero brake levers - fucking joke (really)
the only good things to happen in pavement cycling is 1x and to move towards fatter tires. everything else is pure shit. ride a rigid 90s MTB with 1x and say fuck it
