What gear ratios do cycling pros normally use, and is there a one size fits all approach?
A Shimano 12-28 10-speed will consist of cogs 12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25-28. Old-fags glorify the 16-tooth cog, and will sometimes swap out individual cogs to get a nice 1-step range from the smallest cog upwards for around 5 shifts.
Do the pros replicate this, and how does it benefit an unracer? Does the jump from 15-17 leave much to be desired?
