This has been the case since before even blackberries. The good thing though is at least in the past, there were companies that were lax about expectations at home, but now with normies working from home, the expectation and workload is a lot higher.

Sure hope so.
It was shit before the pandemic.
Now it's literally a death sentence to get on a bus or train or subway.
Scrap all of it, melt it all down, make more nice safe clean private cars for people to drive. Less crime, less transmission of disease.

seriously doubt it. Many cities are building new infrastructure like lightrail and BRT. At least in cities full of yuppies i think we will see more public transit especially brt

Interesting point. I remember at my last job my coworkers would spend ridiculous amounts to uber to and from work just so they didn't have to use my cities public transit which was technically pretty good. I'm sure this is common enough to contribute to the decline in ridership, so cities should really be thinking outside the box to find ways to complete.

Now with Covid it's quiet in the Netherlands.
But in general, ridership is going up big-time.

In my town, a new trainstation went into service 5 years ago. It replaced the station built in the 1980's because that station became too crowded. However, it seems that the new station is also getting too crowded already.
All this is after almost 20 years of neolib government, that tried to to do anything possible to make it work for cars.
But there's just too many trafficjams in my country, roads just can't cut it. Rail transport is the future in our country.
