that has actual effort put into it and can be mural tier. The former you paint over every time, the latter you use to make bland depressing plain concrete come alive. One makes the area look like a ghetto, the other makes it feel lived in. You don't even have to pay for it either, just let the street artists know that you want it done/are willing to and you'll have entire crews come out and stake spaces to work with.

Most cities don't even maintain their own shit. They don't have any business telling rail companies to clean up.

This is also the kind of thing that is self regulating. Rail infrastructure in the bad parts of town tends to look bad, and vice versa.

If u are some kind of poor living by the tracks, then go do some community organizing. Maybe you can get the crosswalk fixed up or get new chain link fence installed.

Cities and states can both make some regulations/laws/agencies that govern railroads. They can't go crazy as its interstate commerce, but they definitely have the authority to do so

Cities and states can issue regulations to railroads operating within their boundaries, but only to a certain degree as it is interstate commerce. Some states have their own little versions of the FRA operating within them.

also my friend was squatting an abandonded railroad building in the middle of a huge city, it was funny cuase they was probably one of the very few buildings in the city surrounded by trees and grass and dirt with no neighbors... they actually had two buildings. and i had shady parking for my van under the bridge they lived above and the yuppy condos in front had security cameras and ciggarette smoking residents always in front of my vehicle. it was sooo nice being able to poop in nature in the middle of a big city. i would hang my ass off the railroad trestle and shit into the river everymorning.
