Clifford Pier, Singapore. As a schoolboy, I would have to sometimes hang out here waiting for dad to finish working in a nearby skyscraper. It was awesome to watch haggard Soviet merchant sailors sell caviar to horny American seaman who were feeling up the local sea whores, then watch Indonesian fisherman count up fat stacks of cash. It reeked of diesel, tobacco, bbq satay smoke and cheap perfume and dirty tropical sea, but it was my favourite perch to hangout.
