>>1605298Here in NY I often see citibikes but I haven't tried one yet. In my part of the city we got these things called limebikes a few years back. I tried them a couple of times when I was fed up waiting for the bus. The first time I rode it wasn't so bad. These bikes are partially electric so it helped to ease my ride home. It costed a little more than the bus but it was convenient.
My second try was ass though. The bike was completely fucked up, the electric bits weren't functioning anymore, and it was really difficult to push the petals. I put up with it cause I just really wanted to go home but it definitely put a bad taste in my mouth.
Probably the big problem with the limebikes is that people are supposed to take them in their houses to charge in exchange for a little bit of profit. Then the bikes are just scattered about wherever people feel like leaving them until someone comes along to charge it or pay to ride it. I would assume citibike doesn't have this issue of bikes getting fucked up as much because they have dedicated charging stations that you're supposed to drop them off at.
