>>1607901Yeah, Shimano's stuff is a farce. Supposedly they're aiming to massively improve it with the next gen, but considering that bike journalists, especially Huang, will suck Shimano's dick no matter what, it'll be a while before the community finds out if they improve at all. And maybe SRAM will figure out how to stop their brakes from making embarrassing noises all the time.
Anyway, I expect that in 10 years or so, road discs will move to at least 180 front.
>>1607977Tour magazine did a test of rim vs disc a couple of years ago, which annoyingly isn't available online, but in the wet, disc was about a second better than rim. Considering that people who bother riding in the wet are probably going to be going slower due to lower grip, it's not that big a deal. Anyway, that's in line with my experiences. I live on top of a hill where the grade is 10%+ and the road is shit, and I need to stop at the bottom for an intersection. The difference between rim and disc isn't life-altering in any condition. Tire grip is a way bigger problem.
>>1608013Or maybe everyone will move to 650x42
