Front wheel electric conversions?

I saw that a 1000w front wheel motor with display is 200-250 usd and a 48v battery is 276 usd.

Was thinking of converting the front wheel of a Schwinn Shuffle 26" scooter to electric. Its 169 USD at amazon. Add in 2 torque arms at 10 each that isnt a bad project. Am I missing anything here?

These wheel motor and battery kits dropped in price so much this year Im tempted to do something.

That sounds like a great idea but where are you going to mount the battery? Find a scooter with a bottle cage mount on the main tube. That's where these batteries get mounted, right?

Maybe mount a simple bike rear rack? They're both "front" wheels too so he could make it RWD just as easily if he doesn't want to run cables under the floorboard, too.

I was thinking rear rack but Ill have to take a closer look at the scooter. The rear wheel is 20 inch the front 26 so I have to decide which one to buy

There's really no reason to make a conversion on something like this. Find a cheap singlespeed bike and convert it, it'll be safer and more comfortable.

I have a 00s diamondback sorrento that I could plug n play.

Was also thinking of taking a trike like Sun cycles trike at 529 and putting the 100w wheel on front end. SUN trikes ride on 24s and are kooky fun

Ive thought of that but i dont think an 80s or 90s OTS would have a beefy enough fork to not snap under the wheel torque.

I was thinking I could use a klunker or beach cruiser too.

Im interested in the project im just torn on what type of thing to electrify

There are some cheap/simple racks that mount mainly to the fender eyelets. There's also that loop by the brakes that he could bolt a beam to for additional support. Depends on how heavy the battery is and how much work they want to put into it.

I've used a front hub for many years and really liked it but there are limitations. Even my 500w unit was a bit too heavy and powerful for the front. They tend to spin out especially going up hill when you need them most, they're hard on dropouts, and the steering is hard when they're coasting. (Oddly, they somehow enhance stability under power, YMMV) For 1000w + you want that power on the back.

if you look for a "kick bike" you'll probably have a rear brake to work with, and maybe a bottle cage mount.

Fork has the wrong spacing to fit a hub-motor. Just went through the same bulllshit with a customer that wanted to electrify a trike and bought everything without consulting First, You are Welcome
