I would never go back to rim brakes now, I can't think of a single advantage to having them. Disks are better in all conditions, are aesthetically cleaner, much easier to maintain and work around, more effective stoppers. Don't get me wrong good rim brakes are fine, if I had a bike with good rim brakes that I was generally happy with I wouldn't be looking to change it just to get disk brakes,, but having now had experience with every type of braking system Disk brakes, preferably hydraulic, are now on the list of must haves when buying or building a new bike.
>>1618785>Caring about the opinions of other peopleMost people ride for a combination of reasons, for me it's mainly practical but also for pleasure, and any thoughts that may or may not pass through the minds of other people in relation to my particular braking system selection does not matter to me one iota, when it comes to brakes I just want to know they are going to do their job effectively.
