This is why people think chafing is caused by a soft saddle:

Not as much as cycling shorts, but now you have to deal with the pain of sitting on a carbon fiber plank.
If you change just your pants to something sports-related, not just bike shorts but any kind of synthetic windbreaker or wicking material, and still use a soft saddle it should help too.
Last thing, leather saddles are generally regarded as good because their top surface is smooth and non-grippy while they have more give than an ass hatchet.
