>>1615757No, i’m concentrating on building a base at the moment because some guy on YouTube said I should do in order take my cycling to the next level. I have only started training with a heartrate monitor since December. Like a lot of cyclists, I have developed what he calls “zone 3” syndrome, that is to say that I have been riding too hard that I haven’t been developing the fitness adaptations associated with zone 2 (endurance) and I haven’t really been able to really make the fitness adaptations of associates with going really hard because I have always been mildly fatigued from zone 3. I probably haven’t even been consistently riding in zone 3 that consistently because I haven’t been using a heartrate monitor, my zones were probably all over the place..yoyoing between 2,3 and 5.
So yeah, I’m just focussing on building a base...just to see what happens. because if you build a house on firm foundations, it’s stronger or some shit.. I’m a firm believer that the tortoise beats the hare.. I will incorporate 1 or 2 Interval trainings a week into my plan when I have got the impression that I have a “solid base” whatever the hell that means. I will increase the volume before I start thinking about increasing intensity. Apparently you make more gains from high intensity workouts when you first have a solid base. Besides riding in zone 2 is very enjoyable for me. Obviously my number one goal of doing a hobby that I do for 8+ hours a week (eventually more when I increase the volume) is to have fun.
I do enjoy doing a cheeky sprint at the end of the workouts and I do low cadence hill work. That’s my wildcard in order to build up strength and prevent me from turning into a weak basedboy/cardiobunny.
