physics doesnt change because of modern technology

the ideal bicycle frame is a geometric construction such that all forces except for pedalling torque is translated into either compressive or tensile loads on tubes.

the only valuable redesigns bicycle frames have seen since the 1800's is lighter and stronger materials, and thinner wall / variable wall thickness tubes with aero cross sections.

I agree completely, there's a lot of potential re frames with dropped seatstays for some truly innovative storage concepts, I would love to see something similar to that water carrier that extended over the wheel and incorporated a rear fender.
