no it doesnt. It needs a bigger rail, far more wheels and ground separation in order to work, whilst conventional trains can just run on the ground, on dedicated rails and also dont need a turntable to change where they're going

I would if it weren't for safety concerns. Remove the full-size cabs, allow passage between trains and between cars, and keep power cables out of stepping distance then maybe you can use the sharper curves and steeper gradients to get around a already-constructed downtown like L.A.

Otherwise, grade-separated rapid transit in tunnels or elevated is easier, cheaper, and more reliable.

If you are building through an avenue with a divider, then it can avoid both tunneling costs as well as avoiding excessive shading over the streets.

we tried once too many times, it really didn't worked.

We had too many bad experiences with elevated structures, so people were skeptical with the monorail, but it turned to be way better than expected.
