They were a bad idea when they appeared in the 90's and they disappeared because of it, they are utterly useless and incredibly dangerous.

Use your brain and get the right set of handlebars from the off, instead of adapting the ones you have by bolting on ludicrous appendages in some misguided and miserly attempt to save money.

I disagree. A barend moving on the bar in an impact is a safety feature, not a flaw. Think of it like a crumple zone. STI levers in the same way, will move around on a bar.

Speaking of these, I recall seeing pictures of a clip on extension for drop bars that added a TT position below the bars and very close in to the stem - like these pictured here but pointed . Does anyone know what they were called? I can't find them now but recall reading that they were banned as the same time as Spinaccis.

I installed a pair on MTB just two weeks ago.
Really nice for the added hand positions although I find the top bends to be useless dead weight. Next time I'd just get pic related.

But yeah, they totally transform a regular bar into something pleasant to use on long trips. And they're solid and perfectly safe - people saying otherwise are retarded.

These look simple enough for any fab shop to make. Welder, mill, decent tube bender, and what, a hundred bux? The only missing part is drawings for sizing I guess.

I'm just saying it looks simple enough to get some new ones made up for less than what "legendary" and esoteric used ones could cost. This isn't like a spinergy or tioga wheel, it's just a bunch of thinwall tubing and a clamp welded up.
