His family wanted this way. Engne from the 60's, horrible to handle, no wings for better speed and stability, no proper tail control, few redundancies in key areas, shitty instrumentation because putting a $100 tablet inside of an aircraft costs $15000 for some reason, ...

As fun and practical as they are, helicopters are dangerous vehicles. I worked on rigs for a while and had an older coworker that's been in 3 helicopter crashes over the water.

Helicopters are really good for short flights but are far more dangerous. I'd rather ride a motorcycle in the city desu. Small aircraft can be very safe.

The smaller and modern ones have this too. Cirrus introduced this to reduce their severe accident rates, they were much higher than comparable airplanes and became slightly lower than normal after them (according to AVweb).
I think it's capable of reducing this much more after proper training and more adoption of tge technology.

But other recovery systems are necessary, for lower altitudes, shittier situations, bigger aircraft (if possible) ...

I think a lot of cities and states have weak, if any, regulations on helis as it is, probably not that hard to obscure the statistics further. If Uber etc go into the market further they'll self-obscure the data to make it appear that it is very safe and a good way to travel.

County sheriff here flies their ghettobird nightly. I've seen it up close in person parked at a recruitment fair. It never crashes because of extreme maintenance requirements and ghettobirds tend not to fly around mountains or hills.
