why is it so hard to find a bike like pic related in the US? Is it more of a euro/asian thing?
All I can find are really weird looking "hybrid" bikes, street bikes, or beach cruisers.
I just want a bike that's aesthetic like this and fun to cruise around town on, maybe get some groceries.

Linus would be what you are looking for if you want steel. State has upright SS cruisers too. The fuji sagres is that but 6061 aluminum. Raleigh usa has something similar.

Because that type of bike used to be called a townie but trek took the name and slapped it on a beach cruiser they make under their electra name.

This will be my first bike in probably a decade. Is it going to ride comfortably? The seat looks really high compared to the handlebars, which makes me think I'd be in a racing pose. 6'0" btw idk if that makes any difference for sizing

Are you sure you want a single speed bike? State has ones that have gears. They have a 3 speed version. Otherwise yeah thats great.

State is a newish company who popularized the fixie fad now they make other reasonable steel bikes with or without gears.

I almost impulse bought an Americana 4130 theyve come out with cool shit this year.

They are considered fashionable.

Nah they just raised the seat for the photo. With a proper size L your seat will be at handlebar height but you set the seat individually using either the lemond method or the french method.

What is your inseam on pants? You are right on the borderline large is 6ft upwards. Those biggest size townie bikes are made for 6ft guys. A bigger frame means lower seat height too.

I'm just a little hesitant to get a frame that's too big since the last bike I had I never liked to ride because it was an "XL" and pretty unwieldy. It was also the cheapest bike the store had so that could have been it.

But also I know you need to get your leg to bend just right otherwise it's uncomfortable and you lose power or whatever.

It doesnt really matter with townie bikes your ride doesnt need to be as dialed in.

Know that those mustachebars will put you in a better position to go a bit faster but you will be a bit lower than a townie bar that rises. If u no like coolguy french mustache porteur bars a replacement handlebar w rise is 30 bucks on amazon.

Im willing to stake my n cred that a 6ft tall man with 32 inch pant inseam would rock a 58 cm buuut.......

State is sold in real bike shops now, just go there and throw a leg over it.

You can also call State Customer service and ask what the Effective/virtual top tube height is. If it is 33 or less you are surely a Large.

Go to /bqg/ on this board tell them you want an elliston 3 speed igh and are 6ft w 32 inch inseam and here is the geometry.

A large means that when you are standing over the bike in a pair of 501 jeans and running shoes (or shorts and briefs) your nuts will be no less than 1.1 inches from the top tube.

No, the frame has already the hole to mount road brakes like pic related, you just need to find a cable sheath and a lever of the appropriate colour and a brake compatible with the width of the wheel. Any bike shop should be able to this operation if you don't trust yourself. Prefer dual pivot brakes as they brake better
