(tho being able to touch the ground depends on Bottom bracket height)(Criterium and MTB frames are bad for this)
if I'm going faster I switch to using the front of my foot like @B or @C (puts more strain on calf (Gastrocnemius) and thigh (Rectus Femoris)
I found setting up the seat at a high more suited to @B or @F put too much of my weight on the seat,
and did not allow much ability to compensate for bumps on the road.
old Italian and British methods put the seat a little lower for ankleing,
so that with one leg fully extended strait and the pedal at BDC the ball of your foot is positioned directly above the pedal spindle,
while the ball of your foot is slightly below the height of the pedal spindle.
