Is this too tryhard for my first bike? I got the money from a bonus and want to get into cycling. I love this color so I picked this bike. Haven't sat on a bike for 15 years

Do you want a race bike? Unless you gotta go fast, I'd go with something with a relaxed geometry and less of a saddle to handlebar drop.

Do you only want to ride pavement? If you want a versatile do it all bike I'd get something that can fit 42 cross tires with fenders and has rack mounts. Maybe later add a second wheel set for switching between 28c slicks and offroad tires.

You'd probably be happier (and faster) on an endurance bike like the infinito cv.
Gives you a more relaxed fit which is more beginner friendly.
Although, if you're flexible and have good core strength you might just get a race bike.

I love the look of Bianchi bikes. A bit expensive, but if you like the design and it's comfortable for you to ride then go for it. Who cares what others think. I think they have a aero, race, and endurance geometry selection so i'd go test ride each and see what you like if you can.

road bikes are not very forgiving to ride
so you'll have to be careful for a while until you get used to the lack of grip
and having to shift weight off of the wheels when encountering bumps
other than that get a good lock and dont leave the bike unattended for too long
keep it clean and indoors if you can, bikes kept in sheds seem to gather a sort of dry rust

the grip of high end road tires on pavement is FAR better than almost anything else.
It's also les that you need to learn to unweight the wheel as that a road bike is ridden unweighted with your effort primarily supporting your body. So not riding it/being strong can be uncomfortable

there may be more difference apparent when braking hard or cornering sharply but its hard to quantify as I've only low side crashed a few times with front tire washout being more common

I do that by maintaining a slight acceleration and having the seat maybe 10 mm lower than prescribed
otherwise if resting or the speed is too high for the surface I'm on I resort to MTB style, knees and elbows bent and letting the bike shake about

The Infinito CV is weird. I tried out the first gen one and it rode kinda like my Miyata 615 but with a more aggressive position. I liked it, very comfy, but not quite enough to buy. Supposedly the second gen one feels a bit more like a race bike because they use less of the CV stuff in some places, but it still won't feel like a gottagofast crit machine like the Aria. Which, as you say, might be a good thing for OP. I wish it had more tire clearance tho.

That's a good bike if all you want to do is ride smooth pavement. It's pretty useless for anything else though. You should seriously consider getting a "gravel bike" (drop bar bike with larger tire clearance) and two different wheelsets, one for the road, and one for off road or warn down roads. It will probably also be more comfortable for you as a newer rider. However, if you truly just want to ride on smooth surfaces there's really no reason not to get the bike you posted, it is a very nice bike. Good luck, OP. All the best.

in general my policy is to encourage people to buy whatever bike will make them most excited to ride and that they will realistically ride the most. the goal is to get more people on bikes more of the time. if you think road bikes are cool, and bianchis are cool, and that will get you out on it, that's fabulous and you do you. they only snag i could think of is a racy road bike being uncomfortable or unstable/sketchy-feeling to someone who hasn't ridden much. if you're young-ish and/or in pretty good shape, like the idea of going fast, and you're not too afraid of falling or traffic, then, by all means, get a racy road bike. if that doesn't describe you well, you might consider getting something a little more approachable/comfortable/stable feeling.

It:s a well above average start. If you do it then 1) keep at it and 2) enjoy it (not necessarily in that order). Coincidentally, a colleague got an Aria recently and is using it for 40km each way commutes -- grizzled old roadie is impressed.

if you have a reasonably high quality bike you won't lose grip or have a long stopping distance. as long as you don't go full retard you won't fall. you're not supposed to ever crash your bike or you might damage components or bend or crack the frame or fork.

yes, it'll weigh 9 kilos instead of 5 but it'll last you an eternity if you maintain it and it's easier to lose those 4 extra kilos by exercising anyway

i was riding a borrowed BSO and hit the rear bumper on a car from the side in a small suburb 4 way junction. i had adjusted the stem and was fucking around to see how it felt with the new riding position. if it had just marginally better braking performance i wouldn't have hit the car. with a better handling bike like a road bike and grippy tires and good brakes you won't have much reason to fall. just take smooth lines, don't upset your weight distribution in corners and don't brake too much in corners. learn countersteering so that you can evade obstacles and turn better at high speeds. it's frightening how many cyclists only know to lean in order to turn, you need to countersteer at least on a subconscious level to turn more sharply.

yes.
the gearing and riding position are for someone much more acclimatised and fitter than you.
get something appropriate to your fitness and ability levels.
this would make a killer second bike, but not a returning to bike.
source: me, buying a $4k bike as a first bike and not riding it because it was uncomfortable and geared too high and made for someone much fitter than the fat fuck i was.

My dad bought a $2,000 road bike and hated it, so he just gave it to me, back when I could barely change a chain. I did zero maintenance on it for a year and rode it with normal clothes and no helmet. It was awesome and fun. No need to look serious on any bike, if you want fun a road bike can be fun. However I would suggest an aluminum frame especially if you might be riding drunk or stoned, you will crash eventually, aluminum more likely to survive
