Almost every car built after 2015 that I've rented has more blind spots than the Braille Institute. I own a Volvo 240 station wagon which is a fish tank in comparison.

You're not wrong but there are limits. Checking one sector interferes with the ability to check others as your peripheral vision is heavily impacted by each new blindspot.

Where I live there are also alleyways and sometimes the dedicated bike lanes (which are on the other side of parked cars) will just randomly terminate because the city has so many streets that become Y junctions. Very possible for a cyclist to be entirely shrouded by trucks in the bike lane and then get blocked by the a-frame once the dedicated bike lane ends.

I was gonna say exactly this. It's really easy for somebody to pop out of an intersection or from behind a parked car or sidewalk tree or whatever directly into the A-pillar blind spot. It's not helped by the fact that so many urban riders completely ignore traffic laws and just generally have this attitude that their own safety is everybody else's responsibility and not theirs at all. I go out of my way to be alert and give bikes a wide berth when I see them but a lot of riders really need to be more aware of cars' blind sports and handling/braking limitations the same way car drivers need to be more aware of what is and isn't safe around large trucks.

That's not viable in a street car, effective rollcages require a ton of cross-bracing to be effective and there's no room for rear passengers or cargo after you've got one installed properly. They'll also crack your skull open like an egg if you aren't wearing a helmet.

Unless you've had your neck modified to give you full owl-like 360 degree vision and you cycle along constantly rotating your head at 60rpm then you're also not continually monitor their environment.

If you're looking in one direction, you're not able to look in another direction. It is physically impossible for a human to look in every direction at the same time.
