>>1648687There are shit cycling shorts though. Many "touring" variants for casual riding have too much padding with the idea of cushioning untrained legs in long rides. They are absolutely incompatible with intense movement and sweating you'd have during a race or training. They might even accumulate extra moisture and make it worse.
Proper pad should be as thin as possible, even none, if the material can wick all extra sweat. Anything more and it just get's in way. But when you're e.g. touring for whole day at e.g. just 15..20km/h there is very little extra sweat and minimal movement so the big touring pads work well in keeping you dry and comfortable.
