Hmm well, look at the $450 level sirrus. how does that work for you? cheap hybrid make sense, expensive doesn't really imho. if you want fast, you need drops. if you want off road you need mtb. hybrid isn't about to end performance.
go to the hybrid section of any manufacture and see what they offer that still has v brakes, not disc. that would be the best deal imho. cheap disc brakes are shit
