Yes, internal cable routing handlebars are a massive pain in the ass. I built my bike up from a frameset and have had to change cabling once since then.
You'll need all new cabling.
You might need different levers if they don't support internal cable routing.
When you get your new handlebars, there'll be plastic tubing in them already. Don't pull that out yet! That's there to help you thread cabling through them,
You'll need some sort of a tool with a hooked end to help get the housing around tight corners.
First situate the levers, then install the cables themselves and use the tubing supplied to thread them through the bars. Then you can remove the tubing. Save it, you'll need it later when you have to replace cabling.
You'll need to cut the housings to the correct length ahead of time, you won't have a chance to do it later.
Run the cables through them and into the bars one at a time. Use your hooked tool to get the housing around tight corners.
Have fun getting the cable ends seated in the levers, that's always the most 'fun' part.
If your frameset is also internal cable routing I recommend using some tubing like the bars came with to thread through to the bottom bracket first, but that's up to you.
The rest should be relatively easy.
Next post I'll tell you the easy way to replace cabling.
