>>1648611The country can't afford to just depend entirely on NYC, like more metropolitan NYC-style cities with NYC/Shanghai tier density is needed in a number of states so that they don't succumb into suburbanization which could break entire counties. Cities like St Louis, New Orleans, Miami-Dade, Orlando, Jacksonville, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, Columbus, Tucson, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver and Albuquerque must metropolitanize at a higher rate with regards to local history and culture ofc, or else everybody will flock to the Northeast and entire states will enter massive debt due to sprawl diaspora. At the moment New York is literally along with San Fran Bay and Dallas carrying like 80% of the economy, this is too much weight. More NYC-style metropolitan areas can increase revenue and cut down prices on goods, ofc there's always a drawback to this which is that property prices will sky-rocket. But suburbanization is a slow endless death spiral. We need more stock exchanges than NYC and emphasize on importance of city history and open up for more services and manufacturing in multiple cities otherwise an entire generation will go baby bust which will kill the country's lead in the world. Ik this is too far feteched but I think the so called stroad problem will solve itself if more and more cities begin to realize the urge to densify and grow larger and larger (not like L.A) like New York.
