>>1656055panic and confusion come up a lot
for some reason when using a bell where I live people freak out like they are about to get run the fuck over and will dive either left or right or step back and forth at random
this reminds me of some old car horns they had two settings, a courtesy gentle nudge peep peep vespa horn horn, and the GTFO out of my way awooga horn
I think the same could be done for bikes, the problem is to have a recognizable bell associated with bikes, John Richard Dedicoat patent bell is a good start
but bikes dont really have a GTFO my way sound associated with them, maybe an air horn would work
>warn them in a polite mannera passive aggressive solution is spokey dokes, as they dont make any noise when the bike is going faster than walking speed, squeaky breaks can have the same effect
but otherwise a single note bell like a crane is good for nudging, or you just slow down slightly and Mi scusi your way past
along with what ever is quick and clear to say ,oops ,my bad ,no problem , its cool ,comein though
I think its just communicating the bare minimum of what you want out of a situation, so people dont feel like you've over stepped your bounds ruthlessly
one thing your not going to overcome is people wearing head phones and stareing down at phones, they could walk into a lamppost without noticing
and the other kind of person who can see whats going on well ahead of time but outright refuses to take any action,
imma walking here every one should just move and dodge around me, or be satisfied with my slow walking pace
>>1656170a valid solution, by the time they notice your there its too late for them to do any stupid shit that could get you both wrecked
