I rire with a jersey and chamois sh9rts. Its the best to have pockets and a light outfit you can sweat in if you want to go on a 2 hour plus ride. Just buy the jersey 2 sizes bigger if you like club fit.

My shorts and jersey are less than 100 together if you enjoy the hobby try the clothes. Its like golf. You can play in cargo shorts and hawaiian shirts but eventually you want some nice gear.

in europe i'm having a hard time finding good underwear. i want polyamide/elastane (not fucking polyester and no stupid mesh/texture, women's underwear is all polyamide or cotton but with men they force polyester a lot because they assume they're to be used for sports i guess), not too short in the legs but not all the way down to the knees, simple black design without obnoxious logos.

I don't get "kits".
With very little riding experience I rode from Los Angeles to San Diego on a rented bicycle over 2 days. It's two 70 milers back to back. I wore a button down shirt and army issue pants that I cut off into shorts. I had my backpack bungie corded to the back rack.

I flew from Texas to San Diego, rented a bike, rode the train to LA and biked back. I don't even think I wore gloves. I mock kits.

Meanwhile, there was a brewery tour via bike with 4 stops in DFW tx that I attended. No brewery was longer than 3 miles apart. People showed up in full kit

Bib shorts are the only thing you really need when it comes too maximizing your comfort, jersey's only work right if you buy the appropriate size which most people don't. Try doing another long ride and see the comfort difference when riding with bib shorts, you can always wear a pair of shorts over them if you feel insecure.

when it's july in the midwest you need lycra or you are a gross sponge of sweat in 15 minutes. People also enjoy putting on their sunday best for large group fun rides. We have a "Tour De BBQ" in Kansas City. There is nothing I'd rather ride less. You visit 10 different BBQ restaurants. 150mm wide bike seat mud butt no bueno.

A quick Google search brought back info about the 6packtrail. Likely a similar route. If you're in DFW is just the breweries that are in close prox to the Trinity trail.
