>>1658978It's less about the lack of a helmet and more about the overbearing, self-victimizing mentality of the no-helmets cult. They are worse than vegans. They are worse than linux people. They are worse than atheists. They are worse than furries. They call themselves "un racers", because people who supposedly "race" in other words anyone in better shape than a 60 year old diabetic beer gut asthmatic with long covid, live rent free in their empty heads. They have an obnoxious fetish for dutch people. They claim that any bike or bike-related habit that isn't a direct copy of stuff used in amsterdam is somehow "elitist" despite the fact that they're only into bikes as an excuse to shit on people who: don't live in the middle of a small and compact city, choose to own a car for any number of reasons, or have to own a car for any number of reasons. And at the same time they're preaching to you about how the pro-helmet people are "seething", they're seething about ten other things: cars that don't have an obvious and direct benefit to them personally (obviously, cars that they borrow or rent or hire or that deliver stuff they personally happen to like don't count as bad), bike lanes, people who actually know how to maintain their bikes, bikes that aren't a heavy piece of shit, comfortable clothes, how fast other people are supposedly riding (or supposedly want to go), disc brakes, whether or not you should fix a flat or just toss your bike into a canal, whether or not you should even try to prevent a flat, what clothes you're supposedly allowed to wear while riding a bike, whether or not you are allowed to ENJOY riding a bike at all, need I continue?
I don't care if you wear a helmet or not. This isn't about wearing helmets. It's about the anti-helmet cult, which is something totally different. It's like the difference between liking vegetables, and barging into a cafe to find all the honey jars and smash them while screaming about bee slavery.
