But it's actually an excellent concept that combines the best of both worlds. They also save a lot on overhead maintenance. in Zurich they've dismantled short stretches of wire at major trolley or tram/trolley junctions so as to save on wire frog maintenance, and they use those pans at the following stop so that the trolleybuses can raise the poles automatically.
