Same here in Brazil, the train can up to 90 kph but it barely runs continuously for too long.

I love seeing the state buying and upgrading trackage. The trains are still unreasonably slow compared to alternatives but I will still give Amtrak my money since they have consistently reinvested in MI infrastructure.

My dream would be to see a train going up I-75 but the money isn't really there in those communities.

What I like is seeing regional rail get steady improvements like this, because if we ever commit to a high-speed rail plan it will already have fast connections and make the whole system more viable.

The long distance trains should stay mainly for heritage and tourist purposes, but they don't need improvements in travel time, and even on-time performance isn't that big a deal as no one in a hurry will use those. Now regional trains is where its at, those have actual potential in getting more passengers and being a really useful service.

Yes it is, even if it's a leisure schedule, people still want a schedule they can depend on, and a lot of long distance Amtrak routes require making a connection to another train
