>>1664885That's a good question, anon.
>>1664915>You need to just go do itI think that's the best advice. And as that anon said as well, start with small trips and you'll learn from that experience. I dream big and am an over-planner. I want to make sure I pick the best bike and best gear. Like I want to set up all the dominoes first so I just have to say "ok I'm going on this huge bike trip" and just knock over the first domino. But it doesn't work like that. I'll never achieve that big huge trip if I don't do smaller ones first and see what works best for me.
Not sure what kind of touring you'd like to do, but
bikepacking.com is great for some inspiration as well as gear reviews and ideas.
Cyclingabout.com also seems good. It's just one guy and it seems like he really knows his stuff because he's touring all the time.
But yeah, dreaming of cool long bike tours is great, but just get out there and do a local overnighter. You'll learn more about how to pack your stuff and your preferences on one overnighter than you will in 1 year of reading websites.
