Took me about 2 and a half years and 14 resto projects before I had the opportunity to build me dream bike. I bought complete but unrideable bikes, fixed em up and got them rideable and sold them on, after a few projects I'd accumulated most of the tools I need and had accumulated about a grand in capital, bearing in mind I'm unemployed, never had a fucking job, a grand in cash for me was something in the realms of fantasy a few years ago.
Once you start making proper money, and I'm talking about buying something like a 93 marin in a fucked state for £50, spending about £30 on it and a couple of days work before seeling it to some sad gen xer in a midlife crisis for £350, and you're doing that once a month all wehile surviving on the pittance Boris johnso sends you once a fortnite, you're ready to move up a level, now you start seeking out decent complete bikes to strip down and sell by the components, bought a mongoose toblerone racer with full xtr for £600, made over £1100 by breaking it down, frame got me $£400, but the point is you start accumulating nice little bits for the dream bike you know you're going to put together for yourself for no money.
All I need is a frame, got me wheels, got me drivetrain, got everything, stem, seatpost and saddly, even got me peddles, I just need the right fucking frame, and I'll find it with a combination of LX abnd DX components on it which I'll rip the fuck off, clean them the fuck up and sell for more than I bought entire bike for and then I'll build me dream bike with me park tools for no fucking charge and win the game of milking gen x twats for keks.
Not bad for a lad who started off with a £20 diamondback and a loan of me neighbours adjustable wrench and allen key set
