>>1668049>>1667707Sure. That anon means well, but he's got some completely insane sticking points that send him completely off the rails, in this case, a bizarre hate of commuter bikes, and a poor sense of what hybrids are. Hybrids are mostly a marketing term.
The important thing is what's right for YOU.
>good upgrades I could add to a Specialized Crossroads 1.0?For that bike, and for your riding conditions, you don't have much as far as performance upgrades that make any sense. You're really better off learning from your bike and finding a really good next bike that fits you.
Contact points, and cargo are always worth doing right. So are tires. Things that you can just ignore on a 15 min cruise become critical on rides your range. You actually DO have some options for the hand pain, keeping in mind that your choices need to be MTB compatible, as it's a different standard than drop bar road.
To borrow a bit from the tourer thread,
>>1664792 >>1668360 ,you could cheaply throw on barends, or a grip replacement like ergon gp3s, or various knockoffs, especially if you have big hands.
>Surly Moloko bars, Velo orange crazy bars, Jones H loop or just standard trekking/butterfly barsare all mountain bike compatible. You don't get to brake from your aero position like drops, but they do give you loads of hand positions, and an aero position.
You might consider a seatpost swap to a rigid one, along with a saddle swap. If your riding position is very vertical, you're better off with a sprung saddle, and rigid seatpost. And in all cases the correct saddle is very important.
Pic is related. It's a 2016 specialized crossroads.
